Material Description

About This Product

#57 Limestone Stone is a premium crushed limestone aggregate manufactured to a nominal size of approximately ¾ inch to 1 inch. Unlike road base or flex base, #57 stone contains little to no fines, allowing water to pass freely through the material while maintaining excellent structural integrity. This makes it one of the most commonly specified aggregates for drainage and construction applications.

Because of its strength, durability, and versatility, #57 limestone is widely used by contractors, municipalities, landscapers, utility companies, and homeowners throughout Texas. It performs exceptionally well as drainage rock around foundations, behind retaining walls, in French drains, septic systems, utility trenches, and under concrete slabs where proper water management is critical.

Beyond drainage applications, #57 stone is also used as a primary aggregate in ready-mix concrete, decorative landscaping, construction entrances, parking areas, and residential driveways. Its angular shape helps the stones lock together while still leaving enough void space for efficient drainage.

Whether you're improving drainage around a home, preparing a commercial construction site, or completing a landscaping project, #57 Limestone Stone provides a dependable, long-lasting solution that balances strength, stability, and water permeability.

Material Use

Choosing the Righ Road Base / Drainage Materials

Many people assume all gravel is the same, but aggregate materials are designed for specific purposes.

The defining characteristic of #57 Limestone Stone is that it is a clean aggregate, meaning it contains very few fine particles (dust or screenings). Because the spaces between the stones remain open, water can move freely through the material instead of pooling on the surface. This makes #57 stone one of the industry's preferred materials anywhere drainage is important.

Unlike road base, which compacts into a solid foundation, #57 stone remains relatively loose after placement. This allows it to continue draining water while still providing a stable surface for many construction applications.

Contractors frequently choose #57 limestone because it offers an excellent balance between strength and permeability. It is durable enough to support heavy loads while helping prevent erosion, hydrostatic pressure, and standing water around structures.

For driveways or parking areas carrying heavier traffic, #57 stone is often installed over a properly compacted road base to combine structural support with effective drainage.
